TRANSCRIPT OF EPISODE
0:00
hey welcome to this episode of the open
0:02
house show with your host Jesse Meadow
0:14
uh we have a very special guest with us
0:16
today we're going to be talking about
0:18
small schools the challenges they face
0:20
and how to overcome them and there's no
0:22
one better to talk to us about that than
0:24
Mrs Aubry Burch she's the founder and
0:27
CEO of easy school marketing join us
0:30
right now without any further Ado hello
0:32
hello thanks for having me Jesse I'm so
0:34
excited to be here excellent I'm
0:36
thrilled to have you as well I know that
0:38
you've done many many things over your
0:41
years here especially in specifically
0:44
with helping these small schools we're
0:45
going to get to your initiative um and
0:47
movement uh that you've got going on
0:49
here I'm very excited that you've
0:51
launched I would love for you to kind of
0:53
give us a rundown tell us a little bit
0:54
about yourself so excited
1:00
at school so it just all comes together
1:01
perfectly in this bundle in terms of how
1:04
easy school marketing came to be
1:06
um so I actually have been working in
1:08
and with independent schools for the
1:10
past two decades basically it all
1:13
started before that so
1:15
um I grew up with a family of Educators
1:17
so my dad worked at this high school for
1:19
like 30 years so I was that child always
1:22
in like the the principal's office
1:24
running photocopies for my father as he
1:27
works summer school and stuff like that
1:28
so literally I grew up in schools and um
1:32
that really put a love of working in
1:34
education in my heart and at first I was
1:37
like well is working as a teacher you
1:38
know am I calling or this and then I I
1:41
fell into the world of like marketing
1:44
and development and I'm like oh yes this
1:47
is for me this is how I can make an
1:48
impact this is how I can make a
1:50
difference
1:51
um and so that really is kind of how
1:53
easy school marketing started I also
1:55
have two children who attend independent
1:57
small schools so that gave me that
1:59
different perspective active of like oh
2:01
I see how marketing development is
2:03
working behind the scenes but here as a
2:05
parent this is how I'm experiencing it
2:07
too and it's really kind of helped me
2:09
you know bring some interesting and
2:12
unique Solutions
2:14
um to common problems that small school
2:16
face face so that's that's kind of my
2:19
way of making my way to you know where I
2:22
am today at easy school marketing I just
2:24
love working in and with schools
2:27
um it's just been an amazing journey
2:29
I've learned so much and I I just really
2:32
enjoy working with these small schools I
2:34
found similar perspectives uh super
2:37
super useful travel you start to
2:39
interact with other schools and now
2:41
similar to you I'm looking for schools
2:43
for my kids this is my experience this
2:46
is where we should go these are some
2:47
things that are working but easy school
2:49
marketing what is the big benefit that
2:50
they're getting from this the reason we
2:52
love specializing in small schools first
2:54
of all they have big hearts right
2:55
they're amazing and they're also trying
2:58
to do what larger schools are doing but
3:00
usually with limited resources and
3:02
budgets and that's why we're like yes
3:04
we're going to help you do this and we
3:05
get really excited because these teams
3:07
have such big hearts and they have big
3:09
goals and so what we do is we help them
3:11
get from point A to point B so we often
3:13
work with marketing development and
3:15
moment teams to help kind of audit and
3:18
assess what they currently have and then
3:20
develop strategies that work with the
3:22
resources they currently have right
3:24
because that's that's where there's a
3:26
lot of Disconnect for small schools is
3:27
like they they want to do this thing
3:30
over here that everyone's telling them
3:31
to do but their their resources and just
3:34
don't allow for that so what's the work
3:36
around like how can we get that same
3:37
result
3:39
um with the resources you currently have
3:40
right so that's what we specialize in we
3:43
also do market research for small
3:44
schools where we really kind of dive in
3:47
and get to know the constituent base and
3:49
you know especially if they're dealing
3:50
with an attrition challenge or an
3:51
enrollment challenge
3:53
um we're there to kind of provide that
3:54
data through one-to-one interviews um
3:56
and an analysis that they can then take
3:59
that data and move forward
4:01
um to make decisions
4:03
um so that's basically what we do at
4:04
easy school marketing we love working
4:07
with small school teams and they become
4:09
we get to know them really well so oh
4:11
I'm sure you do you know the school
4:13
Community especially with small schools
4:15
I imagine one that needs there but two
4:18
it's so small the community that you're
4:20
really having those one-on-one
4:21
interactions things really aren't
4:22
getting lost uh with with different
4:24
personalities when we talk about
4:26
Partnerships with our clients it's like
4:27
yeah so you know some of them are very
4:29
tight some of them are hey we hired you
4:32
to do this we are busy over here uh I
4:34
would imagine that small school
4:36
interaction that you have no matter who
4:38
the client is it's really going to get
4:39
personal it's it's gonna you're gonna
4:41
get to know them
4:42
um and and their school and you know
4:44
it's funny you say that the I can't even
4:46
imagine you know if if we didn't have
4:48
the big budgets of larger schools uh you
4:50
know going to hearing uh a presentation
4:52
or seeing a webinar or reading an
4:55
article about this huge success story
4:56
that you want to implement but it's just
4:58
not possible it's almost like a fomo
5:00
moment how do I how do I do this but
5:02
it's not possible and to have someone
5:04
like you to come in and say hey it is we
5:06
just have to do a little bit differently
5:07
and this is how we might be able to
5:09
achieve that
5:10
um and that data data is King you know
5:13
going through all these market research
5:14
working with these schools do you find
5:16
that there's a single biggest issue that
5:18
they have
5:19
um or is it kind of all over the place
5:22
well in terms of like market research
5:24
data it is very specific to the school
5:27
um so usually we're hired because there
5:30
might be attrition challenge or maybe
5:32
they want to expand their program but
5:34
they're not sure if their Community is
5:35
ready to support something like that
5:38
um and so what we give them is we're
5:40
asking like a certain set of questions
5:41
for for each interviewed parent and and
5:44
those questions help the school
5:46
determine like one what's their value
5:49
proposition like why are parents here in
5:50
the first place like what are the key
5:52
issues the school has
5:54
um what are the things that they're
5:56
doing super well like really really well
5:58
and then is the thing that they're
6:00
trying to launch or correct or something
6:03
is like what are parents thinking about
6:04
that and what are their key objections
6:06
for example what what would be their key
6:08
objections to
6:10
um enrolling in a new program or
6:12
something like that so then we just
6:14
present that information to the school
6:18
um the board the school and everyone
6:19
like that so that they have a better
6:20
understanding of you know what they're
6:22
dealing with so every Community is
6:24
different I mean I will say
6:25
communication always comes up it always
6:28
does I mean how important is
6:29
communication
6:31
um educating parents I think is huge
6:34
um you know I'm sure we'll dive into
6:36
like different Trends with marketing but
6:38
internal Community internal retention is
6:40
is really a big thing and so um when we
6:44
see schools have issues with you know
6:46
attrition retention all that stuff then
6:48
we're looking at like okay so what are
6:51
the communications like and how are we
6:53
educating to the next level into the end
6:55
product to make sure parents feel
6:57
invested in um in staying it's very
7:00
interesting to see how a school operates
7:02
uh you know external communication
7:04
versus internal communication you know
7:06
we've had some experiences where you
7:08
know they've had three four personnel
7:10
which in K-12 school terms is a big
7:12
department so you know definitely a
7:14
decent sized department for
7:15
communications but they're all focused
7:17
on internal work you know there's all
7:19
these event promotions and you know
7:21
there's no external and then vice versa
7:23
all they're doing is marketing outside
7:24
there's no intentional communication
7:28
um outside of here's the newsletter I I
7:31
really love taking a lot of you know the
7:34
newsletters are important but I really
7:36
love taking the holistic approach on
7:37
that organically kind of producing some
7:40
content obviously videos and pushing
7:42
that out so that they can stay engaged
7:44
maybe they didn't come to the event but
7:45
they can stay engaged in what's going on
7:47
implementing it I imagine tactically is
7:49
always a challenge especially depending
7:51
on
7:52
I I don't want to say which hat more of
7:54
how many hats that they're wearing at
7:56
any given time obviously the budget
7:58
constraints limits everything money
8:00
money can limit a lot of your options
8:02
you know what were some of the effects
8:04
on on small schools on the pandemic I
8:06
mean I imagine everything is really
8:08
magnified at that level oh absolutely I
8:11
think you named one of them I mean we
8:12
have
8:13
a huge shift in enrollment it was very
8:16
intriguing
8:17
um to to watch and experience right so
8:20
small schools that had never had a wait
8:23
list before ever or never been full
8:25
before are now full there are some small
8:27
schools I know that doubled enrollment
8:29
like
8:30
that's insane especially as a small
8:33
school and and then yet they're still
8:35
considering themselves a small school
8:37
even though their enrollment might be
8:38
doubled and they might be I mean you
8:41
know classifying themselves more as a
8:42
larger school but that that changes
8:44
everything if you think about it like it
8:45
changes the culture absolutely changes
8:47
like the the experience of parents and
8:50
then
8:51
if you think about it the experience of
8:53
the parents and the the the families
8:55
that were there prior to the pandemic
8:57
and then those who joined during the
8:59
pandemic is they're two different uh
9:01
experiences and there are two different
9:03
set of expectations for that school and
9:05
so a lot of schools trying to navigate
9:06
that and figure out you know how can we
9:10
join these cultures together and like
9:12
who are we who do we serve like how are
9:14
we serving
9:15
um it's really kind of like the
9:17
questions that have come out um of that
9:19
especially for those schools who have
9:21
seen such significant cultural shifts
9:23
both in families and also in faculty and
9:25
staff too I mean we often forget like
9:28
that there's they've changed too or
9:31
maybe you brought on with all that
9:32
doubled enrollment you brought on a
9:34
whole new set of faculty and staff and
9:36
how how are they being acclimated to the
9:38
culture the Traditions especially since
9:40
many of those Traditions went away over
9:42
the past few years there's just a lot to
9:45
think about and so I think schools in
9:47
that situation have been
9:49
challenged and trying to navigate it
9:52
um and really
9:54
um continue to serve their families and
9:56
the faculty and staff that are at their
9:58
school now I know that we were talking a
10:00
lot about you know the small schools and
10:02
we're kind of defining it just to Define
10:04
it a little bit in in terms of 400 or so
10:07
less right
10:08
so this is such a hot question all right
10:11
everyone wants to Define small schools
10:14
and what we've found it's so intriguing
10:16
is that there will be schools with 600
10:19
students who think they're small schools
10:21
because the school down the street is
10:23
much larger or they're struggling with
10:25
resources in terms of time energy and
10:28
Staffing or budgets right so they they
10:30
are facing the same challenges as
10:32
smaller schools than that
10:34
so it is very intriguing like I almost
10:38
asked schools to identify themselves as
10:40
small schools because the the definition
10:42
or lack thereof that we have around
10:45
small schools
10:46
um it's it's challenging it is really
10:48
challenging and what do we say for those
10:50
those small schools who now have double
10:52
enrollment but maybe also they didn't
10:55
build out their Staffing to support the
10:57
new enrollment so they're still
10:58
struggling with like limited resources
11:01
and everything like that
11:03
so um it is very intriguing question
11:06
like what is a small school how do we
11:10
Define it
11:11
um and I I don't think there's one right
11:13
answer
11:14
um a lot of school a lot of people say
11:16
under 400 under 300
11:18
um but it really depends on that
11:20
school's kind of how they're defining
11:22
themselves what their resources are what
11:25
their budgets are like who they who they
11:27
are what are what their mission is I
11:29
think a lot of elements go into kind of
11:31
that definition absolutely and you know
11:34
I think you touched a good point which
11:35
is interesting to think about actually
11:36
is the geographical location you know
11:39
what what other schools are around you
11:41
know this school over here in Orlando
11:44
you know might be a small school but in
11:47
you know Northwest Arkansas this might
11:48
be a very large school you know or a
11:50
medium-sized school so uh that can play
11:53
a lot and that's obviously you know the
11:55
offering that you're kind of giving to
11:56
your community we're a small school
11:58
offering or smaller you know were there
12:01
were there differences in how they were
12:03
able to come out of the pandemic how
12:05
they were able to kind of recover what
12:07
were the options that they had did they
12:09
differ from larger schools in in big
12:11
amounts
12:12
so
12:13
I think every small school is dead and
12:15
and how they've navigated after has has
12:17
differed depending on their situation
12:19
but some things that we noticed are that
12:22
like small schools who saw increases in
12:24
enrollment
12:25
weren't necessarily quick to hire on for
12:28
additional Administration
12:30
um and this is very intriguing and I
12:32
think a lot of that comes from
12:34
especially those who never had wait
12:35
lists before or maybe had budgetary
12:37
issues in the past they were hesitant to
12:39
like say let's invest more money in in
12:42
our oh like we consider like a larger
12:44
admin team or like marketing or
12:46
development or anything like that
12:48
um they were a little hesitant to do so
12:51
um because they weren't sure how long
12:53
this was gonna last right and I think
12:55
that question is still out there how
12:57
long will this last
12:59
um and we've been doing a lot of so we
13:01
did hundreds of parent interviews this
13:03
year as part of our market research
13:05
and I will say School small schools
13:07
especially are are in an interesting
13:09
situation because
13:11
um and this is probably true for larger
13:12
schools as well but
13:14
um like when we're interviewing those
13:16
parents who came during the pandemic
13:17
let's say where they were fleeing from
13:19
something perhaps coveted guidelines
13:21
whatever whatever it was maybe they
13:22
weren't happy with their child's current
13:24
educational you know experience
13:28
um they actually never intended to pay
13:30
like for Education like that was never
13:32
part of their long-term plan so now
13:35
they're in this interesting situation
13:37
especially if you think about like
13:38
Elementary School students especially
13:40
because they have Elementary Middle
13:41
School and High School
13:43
so now parents are either using college
13:45
funds or funds they had never
13:46
anticipated using before
13:48
um and so it is it is a very intriguing
13:51
situation because a lot of them are
13:53
saying like what did the next two years
13:55
look like are we staying in this sort of
13:57
end how are we going to afford this like
13:59
um do we continue to use our our
14:01
children's college funds for for this
14:03
piece
14:04
um so it is very um intriguing and then
14:07
there are people who never considered
14:09
Independent Schools before but now that
14:11
they're in them they're like oh we we
14:13
see right we see the value and we want
14:16
to stay
14:17
um for as long as we can so there's been
14:20
a couple of interesting trends that um
14:22
that we've seen and that are I'm eager
14:25
and and curious to see what what's going
14:28
to happen in the next two years
14:31
um with this boost in enrollment with
14:33
everything that's happening in the
14:35
educational space and with the increased
14:37
competition of non-traditional
14:39
educational offering offerings right
14:41
which covet clearly opened up oh yeah I
14:45
mean I'm down here in Florida and
14:47
our whole state is Lush with this
14:50
process it was never this year-long uh
14:53
learning from an iPad or a computer so
14:55
you know I do want to talk about your
14:57
movement that you've got going on
14:59
um you know this small school Solutions
15:01
movement and you know kind of how that
15:03
has been you launched this month uh
15:05
October right just this last one
15:06
launched in October yes okay so this is
15:09
brand new yeah what is it what are we
15:12
trying to do here I know it kind of
15:14
flows into to the solutions that we're
15:16
bringing to small schools but you know
15:18
kind of expand upon that a little bit
15:19
for us sure okay so it is a movement
15:22
like I am so passionate about this and
15:24
I'm passionate about it because I was
15:26
one of those small school leaders who my
15:28
school couldn't afford to send me to the
15:30
big conferences that everyone was going
15:32
to because like the hotel airfare
15:34
everything like and then I get there if
15:36
I was able to go to a conference like
15:38
that and I'd be listening to presenters
15:40
and they'd be talking about like 50 000
15:43
marketing dollar like budgets and like
15:45
all this stuff and I'm like oh yeah me
15:47
and my team that doesn't exist like are
15:51
supposed to implement these things and
15:52
so it was inspirational but not
15:54
actionable right so it was great to
15:57
network with people but what did I walk
15:59
away with and so
16:01
this past year has been really we
16:03
launched our small school leaders
16:05
program two years ago which that's
16:07
really like a meet up a virtual Meetup
16:09
we have monthly with leaders Across the
16:11
Nation
16:12
um and that was really successful and
16:14
during that time we realized you know
16:15
what there's not a lot out there
16:17
professional development wise for small
16:19
school leaders they they do face very
16:22
unique challenges
16:24
um limited resources limited budgets
16:25
like they're juggling I mean every
16:28
school has you're wearing many hats but
16:29
with small schools especially you're
16:31
wearing a lot of hats so we were
16:34
wondering like how can we help support
16:35
these amazing School leaders so they
16:38
don't burn out so they stay in these
16:40
schools and do their magic that you know
16:42
all that thing all the wonderful things
16:43
they're doing for the schools and so we
16:45
said okay what if we created this
16:47
ongoing professional development that
16:50
really served them and not only like a
16:52
lot of times you go to you know
16:53
professional development it's people
16:55
talking at you for a long time without
16:57
like really an engagement uh piece where
16:59
you could ask questions or get support
17:01
or share your screen or show what you're
17:03
working on and so we created something
17:06
that allows schools to do that like they
17:08
have a question they can ask it you know
17:10
we do a workshop they share their screen
17:12
and show me their survey and we can give
17:13
direct feedback so it makes it like
17:16
they're they're not just inputting all
17:17
this information they're able to move
17:19
forward with things
17:20
so that it's almost like having an extra
17:23
person on your team to really help guide
17:26
you through the challenges or idea like
17:28
toss around ideas with about like how to
17:31
do certain things in marketing
17:32
development and enrollment and that's
17:34
what we created here for small school
17:36
leaders through the small school
17:38
Solutions program so we're really
17:40
excited about it and part of that the
17:42
other thing that I'm passionate about
17:43
regarding small school Solutions is that
17:46
part of that is all the members get
17:47
access to our small school leaders
17:49
virtual conference that we're hosting in
17:51
February
17:52
date to be determined it will come in
17:54
soon
17:55
um but that is like the first kind of
17:58
virtual offering that has been
18:00
specifically tailored to small schools
18:04
um and it's going to be a multi-day
18:06
event that features not only wonderful
18:08
experts from across the you know
18:11
everywhere but also they're tailoring
18:13
their content to serve small schools
18:15
right in addition we're going to have
18:18
round tables so people can get to know
18:20
each other share ideas we can have
18:22
panels so it will be really
18:24
um something that's tailored to small
18:26
schools for small schools you know
18:28
that's going to be huge and you know we
18:29
talked a little bit uh you know
18:31
previously about you know how
18:34
some of the conferences especially the
18:36
ones we've attended you know they they
18:37
have great ideas you know great great
18:40
success stories but it's just not
18:42
possible as far as you know whether it's
18:44
the budget or the Manpower or the
18:45
bandwidth that someone's going to need
18:47
to put those together for a small school
18:49
so having something where they have the
18:51
presentations and you know a conference
18:53
where it's specifically Geared for them
18:56
um you know everything that they're
18:57
gonna hear is something that they could
18:58
apply at home which is going to be great
19:00
uh I'm I'm super excited about that I
19:02
mean I'm looking here you've got
19:04
q a sessions with this uh you know you
19:08
the community piece for me I think is
19:10
huge
19:11
um you know I'm actually a part of a few
19:13
uh different groups where you know
19:15
sometimes it's not so much right here
19:17
and now but you know you send out a
19:18
message hey trying to do such and such
19:22
you know any recommendations or have you
19:23
done this at your school or at your
19:25
place and you know over a day or two you
19:28
start to get some responses and you
19:30
start to take that conversation into
19:31
different places and it's hugely helpful
19:34
um and it costs nothing and not even
19:37
time like it really is more or less a
19:38
question you start hearing some feedback
19:40
you message some people back you build
19:42
some relationships I've always liked it
19:44
through that you know because once I
19:45
found an answer from here I usually went
19:47
to them for other stuff too and vice
19:49
versa
19:50
um I found a lot of actual uh
19:51
relationship building through some q a
19:54
sessions with with uh community members
19:56
and I think that's huge I mean this is
19:59
going to be such a great thing for them
20:00
to be
20:01
um involved in and you know if they
20:04
wanted to whether you know maybe a
20:06
vendor like myself or the school
20:07
Community
20:09
um you know Marcon Department in my
20:11
market Department I mean whoever the
20:13
director of marketing is
20:15
I actually ran into one um I think they
20:18
were out in New York it was a school uh
20:20
the Headmaster the head of school was
20:23
the director of enrollment and the
20:25
marketing director she handled all of it
20:27
she did everything and I'm just like oh
20:29
my gosh I couldn't even imagine but
20:32
she's not alone there are others out
20:33
there exactly right exactly right but
20:36
this is something that would be able to
20:37
help them how would they be able to kind
20:40
of uh get involved in something like
20:42
this or find out some more information
20:43
sure they can go to
20:44
easyschoolmarketing.com forward slash
20:46
solutions to find out more about small
20:48
school Solutions and like we are so
20:51
fortunate to have so many wonderful like
20:53
yourself
20:54
um Independent School businesses and
20:57
contractors that work in the space that
20:59
have a wealth of experience and
21:00
knowledge to share with small schools
21:02
and so we've been really working with
21:04
trying to find those people and get them
21:07
in front of our small school
21:09
um Solutions audience because that's
21:11
amazing I mean you already have all this
21:14
expertise and now these small school
21:16
leaders have an ability to have the
21:18
opportunity to ask questions get answers
21:20
in a really intimate setting and build
21:23
community with the consultants and
21:25
businesses that are serving Independent
21:27
Schools so um if you're one of those
21:29
people please just contact me at Opry
21:31
easyschoolmarketing.com
21:33
um but Jesse I am very eager to have you
21:36
involved in this process so I can't wait
21:38
for our small school Solutions members
21:40
to meet you
21:41
yeah absolutely I'm I'm super excited
21:43
for it you know I was trying to speak in
21:44
the third person there for everyone else
21:46
but no I'm definitely on board I think
21:47
it's great
21:48
um you know and and the good thing about
21:50
it too is that there are there are Niche
21:52
vendors you know some focus on one thing
21:54
some focus on another thing and you know
21:55
kind of taking
21:57
um taking into consideration very much
21:59
like a
22:00
um a conference setting there are
22:01
options uh for them to do it on their
22:03
own um you don't always have to pay for
22:05
someone to do it it is uh Time Saver and
22:08
energy saver kind of on that note we
22:10
always like to finish with thinking
22:11
ahead in your world all right small
22:14
small school marketing
22:16
are there any Trends are we seeing some
22:18
new trends that are coming out this year
22:20
or where do you see the small school
22:21
marketing going
22:23
well it could go in many directions but
22:24
I will say you know My Philosophy is
22:27
always you know looking at like the
22:31
holistic role of marketing I mean you
22:33
use that word quite a few times but
22:35
holistically marketing I think has
22:37
changed a lot and will continue to
22:39
change it is a holistic like marketing
22:41
is everything that touches the school
22:43
it's external it's internal it's so huge
22:47
um and I definitely would hope and hope
22:50
to see in the future more schools
22:52
understanding the holistic nature of
22:54
marketing especially small schools so
22:57
that your marketing person your whoever
22:59
that might be is on like is lit is it
23:03
has access to the board can see the
23:06
entire view of your small school so it
23:09
can kind of like this is kind of what we
23:10
do when we go in kind of say okay what's
23:13
happening with this experience over here
23:15
or how can we streamline this like
23:16
looking at the holistic view of what's
23:19
happening in the school and just an
23:20
understanding of that marketing touches
23:22
everything yeah and so to be very aware
23:25
I would say that is definitely one thing
23:27
I think internal mark marketing is huge
23:29
and if I mean like you mentioned before
23:32
if you've had an influx of students
23:35
now is the time if you haven't been
23:37
already to focus on your internal
23:39
marketing efforts and to really
23:42
um you know I always like to say you're
23:43
always selling to the next level and to
23:45
the end product so how are you doing
23:46
that strategically uh moving forward
23:49
like how what what emails are going out
23:51
what events are there for for parents um
23:54
and students um I think that's huge and
23:57
that's going to continue to be huge
23:59
um moving forward
24:00
so there's a lot of different uh things
24:03
I would suggest
24:05
um and then I would say that it's also
24:07
figuring out your zone of Genius for
24:09
small so zone of genius and return on
24:11
investment are huge especially for small
24:13
school and small school marketing teams
24:15
like what is it that only you can do and
24:18
you can do well and then looking at your
24:20
time and energy like what's getting the
24:23
biggest return on investment like
24:24
tracking the data and everything like
24:26
that and then asking yourself if I'm
24:28
spending a lot of time and energy on
24:30
this one thing can I Outsource it can I
24:32
delegate it can I delete it right those
24:34
are huge things for someone who's in a
24:36
small school to ask because typically in
24:39
small schools this is what happens they
24:42
just pile thing like someone's like oh
24:43
this is a great idea let's do this and
24:45
it's the plate just gets heavier and
24:47
heavier and Something's Gotta Go so
24:50
that's I think something that is a trend
24:52
that's gonna if it hasn't happened
24:53
already for small schools it definitely
24:55
needs to happen for small school
24:57
marketing teams moving forward for sure
24:59
because you need to identify your zone
25:01
of Genius your return on investment what
25:03
you can Outsource delegate or delete for
25:05
your team so that you are moving your
25:07
goals forward otherwise you're kind of
25:10
just get at taking more and more on and
25:13
you're a leader burnout or the goal the
25:15
things that you're trying to push
25:16
forward won't move for it
25:18
not you're absolutely right I couldn't
25:20
agree more it's it's almost like they
25:21
need to have that entrepreneurial spirit
25:24
start having the mindset of okay yes I
25:27
could do this but is my time more
25:30
valuable doing this
25:31
how do I get rid of that one thing that
25:33
we talk a lot about too is is that the
25:35
length of time that we have to educate
25:37
marketing is a long term uh they think
25:40
they're doing marketing it's more of a
25:42
sales you know two months of of an event
25:44
promotion it's not marketing that's a
25:46
sales thing you know marketing is a long
25:48
term okay we have this enrollment season
25:50
we have next enrollment season you just
25:52
you know what is what is three four
25:53
years down the road look like those are
25:56
key key points I would love to see those
25:58
things happen
25:59
um you know with small schools and I
26:01
think it's going to help them a lot uh I
26:03
really appreciate everything that you're
26:05
doing I appreciate you coming on the
26:07
show uh I hope everyone goes out and
26:09
